My first blog entry, for Bruce Bart Tattooing, and I’m not sure why, but I am feeling a little intimidated. I suppose mainly it’s because I’m not completely sure of the direction in which I’m going to take this. But, I love writing and believe that I am a fairly decent, and possibly even interesting, writer.
I “Googled”; “what is the definition of a blog?”; an attempt to help push me onto the path that this blog will travel. The definition of a blog: “a Web site containing the writer’s or group of writers’ own experiences, observations, opinions, etc…..” My experiences, my observations, and my opinions….I can do that, after all, I’m the one that knows them best.
So that’s what I’m doing, I’m going to write. I’m going to try to write every day. Why a blog in connection with the “Bruce Bart Tattooing” website? I guess I meet certain credentials. I’m married to Bruce Bart, I’m tattooed by Damien Bart, and most of my time and many of my closest friends involve hours spent at the tattoo shop with the people in it. There’s rarely a dull moment in my life, being a part of a beautiful tattoo (and tattooed) family.
Being involved in the tattoo world here in South Florida, (Fort Lauderdale to be exact), is always fun, often funny, and definitely interesting. Being married to Bruce….always fun, often funny (we love to laugh), and definitely ALWAYS interesting. This is where I get my material. Whether it’s a day spent at the shop, hanging out with some of the most amazing artists in South Florida, an ecstatic customer after their first tattoo, or just a day spent with my husband….I’ll have more than enough to write about, more than enough to share.
The excitement that has us buzzing today is the planning of our upcoming trip to Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Bruce and I love traveling, experiencing different cultures, different foods, language, art….and Thailand has been on our checklist for quite a while now. We look forward to enjoying every aspect of this new (to us) part of the world, especially the tattoo culture, and I look forward to putting our adventure into words, on this blog.
Now that I feel a bit more comfortable, even a little excited, to share my thoughts, experiences and opinions, I will also share some of my poems, some of my lyrics. I wrote this poem, called “Tattoo”, in March of 2012. In a course I took, we wrote poetry on specific topics and shared them on Tuesday. The topic was “commitment”, the poem is about my sleeve, done by Damien Bart. I wrote it for Damien, who as a person and an artist, I appreciate and respect very much.
Besides, “Your body is a canvas; decorate it.”
Much Love & Peace……
